Annnnnndddd I am in Moab
It has been a but if a blur since going to Nevada in January and then jumping in the truck Tuesday to get here at noon today.

cuz you may miss this!!!
My 3 week base training camp went smashingly well and I think I tapped into some old tenacity.
Many people who have known my event career will say "but you have that great base". As with anything if you don't train it, it ain't there anymore more.
The bank account analogy works well here, you can't go spending and not make deposits. Yes I have done some long days but real base helps with the ability to recover and be consistent.
That is what has me a bit anxious about Run The Rocks. I can slog my way through a big 1 day hike/run but I can't fake it for 3 days.
Biking is different for me as I have done so much and have learned so many tactics and strategies over the last 2 decades, yes, 20 years since my first TransRockies Challenge with Evan.
Running, well running beats you up. No rest on the downs, no inertia on the flats, although if the ups get to bad, you just walk.
I met Aaron and Erin McConnell today at registration and they were full of encouragement, of course they were, they are great humans. Erin tackled her 1st running stage race here last year. Pro tip? Legs Up, I agree Erin and if you are lucky enough, Elevated Legs or another leg compression system for bonus.
I am living out of the truck for this one so luxuries are sparse.
The BigRig, a 2003 1150 Artic Fox on a 2003 silverdo dually would have been pretty expensive for 4 days of driving and a 3 day event. The car would be to small to get good sleeps in.
Ummm hey Jeff why not fly or stay in hotels?
Malad Gorge, and JC Country Diner. I really like driving and it is so liquid and flexible. I wanted to run so stopped and looked at Stava and found Malad Gorge. I just made it to JC for a Country fried steak, never had one, it is fried ground beef in a white sauce, yuck and yummy.
The event is the medium to create memorable interactions with your space, people, and yourself.
